Vision boards are a fantastic way to ensure that you focus on your goals. Let’s face it, unless you live in a place where you are free of television, Twitter, Facebook, and the Internet you likely have problems focusing on your goals.
Nowadays there is more distraction than ever, and it’s a challenge to stay focused and motivated when we have so much constantly around us that begs for our attention. A vision board is a tangible concrete object that can be strategically placed in order to help you keep focused on and visualize your goals.
It typically is a collage of things that you want in your life. They may be things, feelings, or even accomplishments.
Most people will create one by collecting all sorts of pictures and pasting them onto a surface, such as a piece of cardboard or a bulletin board. There are really no rules when it comes to vision boards, you can create them however you wish.
Let’s say you wanted to lose weight, so losing weight is the goal that you want to accomplish. You could create a vision board with motivational quotes, pictures of bodies that you would like to have, or even your accomplishments so far. The board is whatever you want it to be, for your own purpose.
You may be wondering whether vision boards will actually help to improve your life, and the answer totally depends on you. It is proven that these help many people to reach their goals, and the reason for this is because of how they work.
TIP: Make Several Vision Boards!
Have you ever had a goal and then completely forgotten about it a short time later? Of course you have, and this happens to everyone, which is why vision boards are a practical tool for those who want to stay on the path and not lose focus due to distractions.
In order to get the most out of your board keep it where it can be seen at all times. A good place to keep it may be in your office, in the kitchen (because most people spend a lot of time there), or even in your bedroom. If you spend a lot of time in a particular place then you will want to have it in plain sight.
Also, if your board is being used for a specific goal, such as the losing weight goal that we spoke about above, you may want to keep your vision board in your exercise room or on the fridge in the kitchen. Doing this will hopefully motivate you to exercise and keeping it in the kitchen will hopefully encourage you to stick to your diet.
Making your own vision board is easy and fun. You can make it however you like, and you may want to make a new one every once in a while, for when your goals change.
